'Full House' is one of those shows that usually does a good job when a large chunk of the episode takes place outside of its regular set pieces. It also does a great job with childhood romance. This episode contains both so well.
9-year-old Stephanie has a new boyfriend, "Dangerous" Brett Davis (played by Rocky from '3 Ninjas Kick Back'). Stephanie thinks he is cute and wants more common ground with him. Playing catch with Danny and Rusty, they discover she is an excellent pitcher--a natural. Danny coaches Brett's rival team, so Stephanie must face her boyfriend in competition. Brett declares their relationship and asks Stephanie to go easy on him when they play. If Stephanie does go easy, she will let the whole team down. If she plays fairly, she may lose a boyfriend.
I've always been a big fan of these childhood romance takes such as 'Moonrise Kingdom' and 'A Little Romance.' This episode can kindly be added to that mix.
