Bender goes to Hell!
Tweekums6 March 2012
Warning: Spoilers
This episode opens with Leela, Fry and Bender going to a concert performed by the heads of the Beastie Boys after which one of the speakers invites Bender to join him and some friends for their after show party; here Bender is introduced to 'jacking on' which entails electricity abuse. He is soon addicted to Electricity and is endangering his friends. Ultimately there is only one way out of it for him; he finds religion. The Church of Robotology doesn't just demand he stops electricity abuse; he must also stop smoking, drinking, gambling, stealing etc. It isn't long before his friends decide this Bender is even more of a drag than the old one. Something has to be done; they take him to Atlantic City and in no time he is up to his neck in debauchery again. He is having the time of his life until the Robot Devil turns up and drags him to Robot Hell; it will be up to Fry and Leela to rescue him.

This was a great episode; I'm not usually a fan of musical interludes but those in Futurama are usually pretty good and the 'Robot Hell' song was pretty catchy and showed that the voice cast can sing. The story was pretty good and contained plenty of laughs. Fans of the Beastie Boys should enjoy this as they voice their own characters and don't just appear to perform one song. This episode sees the introduction of occasional characters Preacherbot and the Robot Devil; both are fairly entertaining although the latter is the better character in my opinion.

Season 1 of Futurama
nicofreezer24 February 2022
Season 1 has been consistant in quality, I admire that, 7 episodes 8/10 and one 7/10 , the stories were all good and clever. But Unfortunately lacking Greatest lacking real laugh. When you watch Futurama you are going to smile, but you're very rarely going to laugh, thats why I cant put a 9/10 to any episode yet.

I hope season 2 will be better, but Season 1 has been solid enough for me to continue the show.

An enjoyable end to an enjoyable season

It was a really enjoyable first season for a show overall. I was a little difficult to make up my mind on my feeling towards the very first episode as it was a little uneven. You could mostly tell what the writers was trying to do but they were clearly still trying to figure things out and they weren't able to execute it all very well. I thought the episodes would get better and better as the season went along and they really found their stride. I'm already loving the show more than the Simpsons (especially newer seasons) and I really hope it doesn't fall into the same decent of quality in the upcoming seasons.

when Futurama got it groove for the first time
nerrdrage6 September 2023
Since the (latest, 2023) Futurama revival is a bust, I thought I'd spend the time rewatching the best episodes of its long run. I'd forgotten how rough the first season was, in both art and storylines but this is the episode where it really started to click.

The Futuramaverse expanded a lot with the entertaining notion that in the future, only robots have religion (well among these characters anyway). Preacherbot and the Robot Devil are great additions to the series and the Robot Devil's song was clever and catchy.

After this, I'm going on to season 2, where I'm sure there will be a much higher proportion of great episodes. Seasons 2-5 were solid.
