- After years of searching for Earth, the Galactica finds Earth. Adama would like to land but a child prodigy named Dr. Zee advises Adama against it because he believes that if they do that the Cylons will attack the Earth. So it's decided to send men to go to Earth and to make contact with people who won't treat them as a threat and whom they can ask to help introduce technology that could help the Earth stand up to a possible Cylon attack. Boxey who is now an adult and a warrior who goes by the name Troy, and another warrior Dillon are sent to North America to make contact with a scientist who believes in life beyond the Earth. But they are mistaken for people who want to harm the man so they are arrested. But when he sees something they left, he knows who and what they are. - Finally, the trek Galactica has made across the Universe has ended. It has finally reached the thirteenth colony known as Earth. But Dr. Zee (Robbie Rist) has also informed Commander Adama (Lorne Green) that the intelligence he has received also indicates that if Galactica were to make contact with the inhabitants, they may lead the Cylons to the last bastion of human existence. Earth has not yet advanced far enough to protect itself against a Cylon attack.
Adama and Zee decide to send two person recon parties to different locations on Earth to covertly make contact with members of Earth's scientific community. Adama's grandson Capt. "Boxey" Troy (Kent McCord) and Lt. Dillon (Barry Van Dyke) are assigned to approach a scientist in The United States. Dillon is disappointed that he did not receive the assignment of two other warriors, The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, because he likes the meaning of the word union.
They land in a rural area and hide their Vipers by covering it in color which is beyond human spectrum to see making them invisible. They take off on futuristic motorcycles capable of flight to locate the scientist they have been assigned to contact. They make contact with reporter Jamie Hamilton (Robyn Douglass), who is trying to get a job with a TV news network. When they tell her they are trying to locate a Dr. Donald Mortenson (Robert Reed) at the Pacific Institute of Technology who is also a world renowned scientist, she agrees to take them to the Institute.
When they arrive at the Institute, they see an anti-nuclear protest against Dr. Mortenson and the Institute. After stunning a security guard and getting up to his office, they find out that he is not available. Believing that Troy and Dillon are some of the protestors and believe that they are out to harm Mortenson, security calls his office to warn him. Mortensons secretary covertly tells security that they are in the office. Knowing that their time is short, Troy leaves a message for Mortenson by changing a formula Mortenson has been working on to safely dispose of radioactive waste, knowing that Mortenson would know that they arent from Earth. They leave the office and very shortly get arrested.
Mortenson sees the changed formula and contacts Jamie during her interview about helping him free Troy and Dillon. The executive giving Jaime the interview tells her that if she helps Mortenson while covertly doing a hidden camera report on him, she will get the job. She agrees to help without Mortenson knowing the reason.
Using their invisibility tools, Troy and Dillon are able to escape from jail.
When their Vipers run out of enough energy to mask their presence, they are found by a young boy who is playing in the location where they have hidden them.
