Pretty goofy
planktonrules11 July 2012
This episode of "GE True Theater" begins with two guys in the boxing business arguing about who was the greatest boxer of all time. One insists that it's Joe Louis--the other the old-time boxer Jim Corbett. Resolving this is impossible, as Corbett fought more than a half century earlier and is dead....or can it? In a goofy twist, Heaven sends Corbett back to Earth to box once with Louis--but there is one proviso--Corbett can't kiss any women.

The choice of Corbett was odd, as Corbett was an avowed racist. He refused to come out of retirement to fight the first black champ, Jack Johnson, and having him come back to fight Louis seemed a bit strange. In addition, the acting was often pretty broad on this one and is not one of the better episodes in this long-running anthology series. Not terrible but a bit too silly to be taken seriously.

By the way, like a few other episodes of the series, this one can be downloaded from archive.org. However, the quality of this one is pretty poor and the print has not aged well.
