In this episode we meet Mia, the owner of The Independence Inn. She is in town for a short time and spends the day with Lorelai and Rory. Jess plays another prank on the townspeople, by making a chalk outline of a dead body right outside Dooses market. Chaos ensues. The town meeting starts early to discuss what they should do about Jess. Luke, Lorelai, Rory, and Mia walk in on the meeting and overhear the discussion. Luke and Taylor have an argument about Jess and Lorelai joins in- taking up for Luke. Rory ends up going off on Jess for his pranks and for causing Luke stress. He ends up secretly fixing the broken toaster that Luke has been trying to salvage the whole episode. Emily meets Mia and they have a civil conversation. Mia tells Lor that she wants to sell the Inn as soon as Lor is ready to move on. Lorelai gets completely stressed out about buying The Dragonfly Inn which belongs to Fran, who doesn't want to give it up. Lorelai is a jerk to Emily then Lorelai and Sookie fight. Luckily, Lorelai apologizes to both.

This so so episode had Lorelei and Sookie at their absolute worst. The way they dealt with Fran was nothing short of cruel and mean-spirited. Fortunately it was uncharacteristic for the both of them. They needed to be taken behind the tool shed and walloped. Also, too much California referencing! Must be the Palladio influence.
