Yokel Hero (#4.4)
ComedyFan201023 January 2014
Warning: Spoilers
It is a very hot time and the conditioner is broken. At the same time Rose is nominated for St. Olaf Woman of the Year award. She is worried she will not get it so her friends Dorothy and Blanche pump up her resume for her. Then they go on a trip to get the award, but when Rose finds it out she doesn't want it anymore. She still gets it as the opponent is disqualified for having a skeleton in her closet, literally, her husband.

A pretty fun journey they had, liked their trip on all forms of transportation. Was just disappointed we didn't get to see St. Olaf after we heard so much about it!

Rose gets a special award that hopefully doesn't melt in the Miami heat.

Warning: Spoilers
Rose finds out that she's been made a candidate for the St. Olaf woman of the year and Blanche and Dorothy decides to help her win by doctoring her application. They also deal with the broken air conditioner, so a trip to the cooler Minnesota hamlet does seem to be a relief, even if it takes them days to get there by various means which leads to some wacky situations. I certainly wouldn't want to be going to Beaver Falls or through the Zumbo Falls tunnel. Check out the weird reaction from the young actor playing the air conditioner repair man when he points out Sophia outside. This episode really took some unique imagination to come up with the weird situations.

Good episode but weird plot

Warning: Spoilers
The plot of this episode is so strange. Why would Rose get nominated (& win) St. Olaf Woman of the Year when she's a resident of Miami? I know she's from there but it seems like the award would go to currents residents of St. Olaf; not anyone in the country. Also, they went to all the trouble to get the girls close to St Olaf only to leave us high and dry. No St. Olaf! They should've made it a two-parter and in the second episode, shown us around St Olaf. Nonetheless, I still like this episode; some good laughs throughout. Ufta!

Woman of The Year, St. Olaf style.

Rose is nominated for a prized award, At Olaf's Woman of The Year, she's worried that her qualifications and experiences aren't enough, Blanche and Dorothy give her application a bit of a helping hand.

It's a funny episode, it's certainly different, definitely a little zany. Nice to see Rose excited about returning to her home town.

There are several funny moments, Sophia cooling herself off at The Fridge, the book tally in St. Olaf's Library, and of course that wonderful journey to St. Olaf.

Good seeing the girls out and about for a change, a pity we didn't get some actual external shots.

Len, Sven and Ben, they're a riot, you can only imagine what a trip to St. Olaf would be like. If only they'd have done a few episodes set there.

7/10.
