Gomer Pyle, our hero, wants to buy a friendship ring for his "best girl" Miss Lou Ann Poovey. So he goes to a jewelry store and looks at some rings. The salesman shows him some rings and Gomer picks one he likes and the salesman tells him that it's $7.50. Gomer takes out a 10 dollar bill and hands it to the man. The man says: "No, that's $750.00". Gomer is shocked and disappointed. He walks outside and runs into his old pal, Friendly Freddy. Freddy opens the trunk of a car and shows Gomer a bunch of friendship rings. Gomer buys one and then walks away. Friendly Freddy later finds out that the ring he sold Gomer is actually worth $500 and that his supplier is going to kill him if he doesn't either get the ring back or pay him $500.
That's the setup. And away we go.
Obviously this episode is very similar to all the other Friendly Freddy episodes. Freddy has a scam and Gomer falls for it - again. And again. And again. But if you like Friendly Freddy like I do then you don't mine seeing him again. It's a fun episode. Not great, but fun. One of my favorite parts is that we finally get to see Freddy's girlfriend and she turns out to be a gorgeous blonde. Who knew? There are some fun twists and turns along the way.
