'Tim, Bill, and... the other one!'

The End is a charmingly simple episode of the goodies that manages to take a more traditional style of humour that you may expect from one of the more traditional sit-comes of the 70s, playing with proper jokes over visual gags.

This makes The End one of the more unique episodes of the series, although it's episodes like this that remind me why the Goodies may never be shown on TV again, such as the scene where the Goodies "find religion", with Tim becoming Jewish and Bill "blacking up" and becoming a Muslim, a phrase that still sticks in the throat.

The End is one of the most charmingly simple episodes of show and makes it extremely memorable, simply because it's so unique. It adds a new level of humour to the episode, and it's good to see the Goodies playing with a traditional style of humour for a change, not that I dislike their silly visual gags, but this is a breath of fresh air.

Thankfully, this episode has been released on both VHS and DVD, so is easily accessible, and if you want a more tradition episode of the Goodies, you may want to check this out.

The End

Maybe it was called The End as the Goodies thought it might be the end of the show. However with regular appearances on Top of the Pops. They were at the peak of their powers.

The End is a political take on the concrete jungle. The Goodies are hemmed in as every blade of glass has a tower block built in it.

Just as post 1960s redevelopment in British towns and cities. Nowadays it is called brownfield redevelopment.

The Goodies cannot get out of their apartment block. They wait for the Queen to hopefully rescue them. Once various strikes are over and some motorways are built. It is like a game of Tic Tac Toe.

As they await their rescue for years. The Goodies go stir crazy, they get religion. When food stocks run low, they turn to cannibalism. Bill pulls the long straw and his goose could be cooked.

I found this to be less inventive especially as this is a studio bound story. The satire on religion did not work. Not sure about Bill parodying Muhammad Ali. It was a tad aimless.
