When reading from a sports book, Howard says there are six ways a baseball player can reach first base without getting a hit. He doesn't identify them, but they are: a base on balls, being hit by a pitch, catcher's interference, a fielder's error, a fielder's choice, and when the batter strikes out but the catcher drops or misses the ball and the batter isn't thrown out before running to first base.
Jack calls "Big Money" the show that made Milwaukee famous. Early in the 20th century, Schlitz beer advertised that they were "the beer that made Milwaukee famous" (during Prohibition, they replaced the word "beer" with the word "drink"). This is the beer company that the writers of Laverne & Shirley (1976) alluded to with the name "Shotz Brewery" for Laverne and Shirley's workplace. And these writers are also the writers for Happy Days.
James Ritz, who plays Quincy in this episode, has gone on to have small parts in most of Ron Howard's movies.
