Trying to win an old bet!!
coltras3513 June 2022
Someone's trying to break up the Harts, and that someone has a major scheme in mind to do that. Doctored photos of Jonathan and another lady, sending flowers to Jonathan from a lady, but what our little fiend - who is doing this because he owes big dollars to the mob - doesn't know is that Harts know someone is trying to cause a rift in their relationship. Harts game plan is to play along. Their arguments in public and at home ( their house is bugged) is amusing. This is a good episode. Not action-packed, but watchable enough.

Enjoyable but...

Warning: Spoilers
I really did enjoy this episode, especially the "heated" banter between J & J (once I knew it was all a scheme). But I did find myself asking... didn't they go to a lot of unnecessary trouble pretending to break up? They could have just ignored the weird girlfriend stuff and lived their lives. Either they'd find the odd occurrences were nothing but pranks/misunderstandings or they'd find out what the perpetrator really wanted from them eventually. The bad guy's motivation was to get them to break up anyway. If they just would have ignore the gifts and the phone calls (seems much easier) the bad guy (don't remember his name) would have given up sooner or later when he saw his tricks weren't working. I don't know, maybe J & J's whole plot would have made sense if they already knew about the bet and were trying to smoke out the culprit. All in all, it gets an 9/10 from me.

That's One Losing Bet!

This was a fantastic episode. A million interesting guest stars, plus real emotional acting, it was awesome, even if it was all part of yet another undercover operation :-). The episode opens with the fact that the Harts have a new headboard. Out is the satin padded jobber, in is the Asian-inspired black wood. Terribly important, isn't it? An old girlfriend calls and hangs up on Jonathan, and J&J proceed to have a very fun conversation in bed about the people they dated. So confident in their love for each other that these conversations are fun and amusing for them, not a bit of jealousy. Then then a series of events take place leading the Harts to get into quite the public fight. But was it real or was in Memorex? What follows is a really well-done, well-acted, well-written romp thru the streets of LA. And the guest stars were really outstanding. Not a stinker in the bunch, even the very small roles. BLOOPER ALERT, Jennifer clearly has no ink on her fingers in the car, even though it was specifically referenced by Jonathan just a minute earlier. We get an appearance by Deanne and Detective Grey. What, no Stanley?! I miss that guy. Ah well. Also interesting is the real society columnist of the time, George Christy, as well as Alana Stewart. We also get some pictures from J&J's wedding, as well as a shot of nuns on bicycles being knocked down. Not too convincing on either part, but that's OK, this episode's a 10, anyway!
