Darklis - Gypsy Dancer : Paladin, you are a man who does whatever he sets himself to do.
Paladin : Darklos, is that second sight?
Darklis - Gypsy Dancer : No, women's intuition.
Paladin : If ever you are in San Francisco.
[And he gives her his card]
-
Jim Sherwood : He's dead, shot in the back. Why would anybody want to kill Dan Tidner?
Paladin : $10,000, I imagine.
-
Dan Tibner : Gypsies put it there.
Paladin : Romanies are many things but seldom artists.
Dan Tibner : They were around here yesterday. I drove them with my shotgun. Thieves, all of them.
Paladin : Then this is meant for you. It's a curse. It's true, it's a Romany curse. Even my horse went lame walking by it.
-
Jim Sherwood : What's this?
Earl Tibner : Well, you name it, Galahad.
Paladin : It's a gypsy earring.
-
Craft : Obviously, Mr Paladin, a bank teller isn't qualified for such a job. Do you think you could manage to leave in the morning for Immigrant Valley?
[Hey Boy is sitting on the floor next to Paladin ostensibly polishing Palaidin's top hat but is nodding as to Paladin's availability and ability]
Paladin : Mr Tidner, if Dan Craft wants $10,000 delivered safely to your bank, why doesn't he send it by stagecoach?
Craft : Doesn't trust them. He'll deal only with a bona fide representative of the bank. We hold title to the tract of land he's buying.
Paladin : Very well, Mr Craft. Will you see there's a credit of $500 to my account by morning.
[Hey Boy is fascinated by the transaction and looks from one to the other]
Craft : Five-hundred?
Paladin : Now if you were to bargain with me, the price will go up proportionately. And I had intended to go to the opera tonight anyway.
[He puts his top hat on as he stands]
Craft : Five hundred. Yes, Mr Paladin. Right. Thank you very much. All the papers, self-explanatory. Two signatures. Thank you. Five hundred dollars.
[Paladin removes his top hat and Hey Boy smiles with glee]
