I comment on this only to bring to people's attention the fact that in this episode, John Nettles boasted a comically odd moustache! Heartbeat itself is by now so far past its sell-by date that I'm amazed it still gets commissioned. The elderly seem to like its easy-going plots which require no thought whatsoever, where every character is two dimensional. I used to watch this as a kid with my parents, but it fell apart after Greengrass left to be honest. Every other episode features some kind of poaching, whilst teenage scamps are often to be seen challenging a local authority figure in 60s Britain (if meekly!). The show has run since the early 90s, but its been 1969 for the past decade or something in Heartbeat. They're stuck in a time warp. The clothes are horrendous, whilst the barmaid, Gina, is now far too plump to be squeezing into those garish 60s miniskirts. She used to be fairly slim, but now boasts double chins and a sizeable belly! Yet we are expected to believe every so often that some bloke is passionately in love with her! Ludicrous! The coppers are now so dull and worthy that it sickens the soul. This show oozes laziness. It's harmless piffle, but in a generation it will be utterly obsolete as a genre.
