This installment of "The Star and the Story" features Edmund Gwenn in the title role. Considering what a charming actor he was, this makes it worth seeing.
Paddy is laughed at by his friends. Why? Because he claims to have seen flying saucers and they don't believe him. So Paddy is determined to keep looking and bring everyone evidence to prove to them that he isn't lying or insane.
While Gwenn was wonderful, the story itself didn't seem to want to make any commitment as to whether or not Paddy was right or wrong...and that left me a bit disappointed. Reasonably well made but the ending just didn't do much for me...as I felt I wanted more from this otherwise charming story.
By the way, there is a line in the show about Queen Isabella and Columbus showing everyone that the Earth was not square. Well, as a retired history teacher, I have heard this myth way too many times. During his time, folks actually assumed the world was NOT flat but were simply afraid of the unknown...what might be waiting for them on the other side of the Atlantic. It's a myth promoted by Washington Irving and others...but purely a myth.
