This episode was originally supposed to be the season six opener.
When Lucy comes tearing in from buying some ice cream, she carries a red and white striped paper sack. Although the company name has been removed, this is a bag from Wil Wright's Ice Cream, a California business that Lucille Ball adored. Virtually unknown on the East Coast, Wil Wright's was a chain of old time ice cream parlors that dotted the West Coast until going out of business in the mid-1970s. Their rich recipe and variety of flavors made them a favorite of stars like Lucy and Marilyn Monroe.
The two cops were originally intended to be played by actors from "Adam-12". Gary Crosby had a recurring role on the series, but Dick Sargent had just wrapped his run as Darrin Stephens on "Bewitched."
The surname Barker will be used by Lucille Ball for the last of her television characters in "Life With Lucy" (1986-87).
Harry is looking forward to watching "Cleopatra" on his new 23" color television set. In the first episode of season two of "The Lucy Show" Lucy plays Cleopatra in the very first episode of the series to be filmed (but not broadcast) in color.
