Best Episode in a Very Weak Season
kgraovac30 December 2023
The office building has been bought by movie musical star Dan Dailey, and Lucy ends up working as his secretary after being fired by Harry.

This is a superior episode for the Season, though the script does have a couple of flaws, the good points make up for it. This seems very much like a Season 5 episode because of the diner set that was used extensively in the following season. Having Lucy share girl talk there with Mary Jane and Vanda gave the series some much-needed continuity and focus -- they were kind of like a proto-GOLDEN GIRLS in these scenes. Lucy is having fun bragging to the girls how much of a slacker she is - until Harry is discovered eavesdropping behind a big plant.

2023 audiences would rip this one to shreds because Lucy is basically sexually-harassed by Dailey in his effort to get her to quit. Her reaction to his come-ons is that she's hilariously all too willing. Also funny is the fact that when Mary Jane and Vanda hear about his advances, they get jealous: "Lucy, I think you've got a live one!".

The script makes reference to Dailey's recently canceled network sitcom THE GOVERNOR AND J. J. He and Lucy do an impromptu song-and-dance in his office that is actually enjoyable.

I was going to subtract one star for Harry impersonating Dailey's wife without shaving his moustache, but the script doesn't ask us to suspend disbelief this time, so my original rating still stands. 7/10.
