Very enjoyable episode with excellent acting by Bill Paxton and Bud Cort

Loud, arrogant, and obnoxious criminal Trout (Bill Paxton in peak raucous and rowdy let it all hang out wildman form) feels a strong kinship with and develops an immediate deep affinity for nerdy, mild-mannered, and soft-spoken serial killer Wax (a wonderfully quirky portrayal by Bud Cort). However, the friendship between these two radically contrasting, but equally dangerous lunatics falls apart after the pair picks up a brash prostitute. Writer/director Thomas Baum has a field day exploring the freaky and unhealthy close bond between the colorful crazies, builds a good deal of tension, adds a few nice touches of wickedly amusing dark humor, and caps things off with a perfectly grim ending complete with a genuinely haunting closing shot. Paxton and Cort display a very loose, natural, and utterly convincing screen chemistry and play off each other exceptionally well, with Paxton's restless energy and cocky swagger a particular treat to watch throughout. Jonelle Allen lends able support as sassy street walker Sunny. Reynaldo Villalobos' sharp cinematography gives this episode a neat glossy look. The shivery score by Shuki Levy and Haim Saban hits the spine-tingling spot. One of this show's most offbeat and entertaining half hours.
