Hochstetter's car, a Gestapo vehicle, has a Wehrmacht/army identification plate.
In the introduction, Hogan has Carter with him at the checkpoint, while LeBeau, Newkirk, and Baker are planting the dynamite to blow the bridge. Since Carter is the main demolitions expert, there is no way he would have been with Hogan. Newkirk would have been the more logical candidate to be with Hogan at the checkpoint.
Correction: Carter is the one who knows how to make the bombs. Once the bombs are made, anyone can plant them.

The first defector climbs into Major Hochstetter's car trunk which has a license plate number of WH-54693. But when Hochstetter's car returns after taking the first defector out, the camera is filming at ground level where the last three numbers of the license plate come into view. The numbers are 495.
There's no reason to assume that the next time Hochstetter comes to the camp, that he's driving the same car. The Gestapo likely has many cars.

A palm tree is visible just outside the camp, at about the midway point of the program.
The front license plate on the scientists' car is WH 54693. The rear license plate on Major Hochstetter's car is also WH 54693.
When Hochstetter's car returns after taking the first defector out, the camera is filming at ground level and between the legs of two prisoners. The prisoners walk left out of the frame as the car approaches. In the lower right hand corner, the shadow of a crew member's hand can be seen directing the car to stop.
In order to set up the second scientist's escape, the prisoners cause a coolant leak in Hochstetter's car. In order to fix the leak, Newkirk asks for a hammer, which can be found in the trunk of the car. The scientist goes to get it, but, instead, crawls into the trunk. After the car is repaired, Schultz demands to know where the prisoner sent to get the hammer is. LeBeau turns up with it and gives the hammer to Schultz. The problem is that, since Schultz overheard the request for the hammer (as he was supposed to), he would also have overheard that the hammer was in the trunk. Therefore, the obvious next move for Schultz would be to put the hammer back in the trunk of the car - thus revealing the scientist hidden in the trunk.
When the three Germans first visit Hogan and the gang in their barracks, Carter is ironing some clothes, and an electric hotplate is plugged in to heat the iron. However, when Captain Steiner sits down to talk, Carter moves over to stand beside both the Captain and Hogan - all the while playing with the iron. Since he had just been ironing the clothes, it should still have had some residual heat in it, but Carter is handling it as if it were cold.
When the German scientists reveal they are carrying the heavy water, they ask Hogan if that is enough of a calling card, to which he responds, "That's just about a hundred proof." Hogan should have said 200 proof, as one-half the proof number gives the percentage of alcohol in liquor. 200 proof would indicate pure alcohol.
Correction: Hogan's comment had nothing to do with alcohol. What he was saying was a slang version of "100 percent proof".
