It's interesting how, already, the show is beginning to move away from the Fletchers:Only three of the characters on the opening titles appear in this episode as it mostly centres on the secondary characters.A cruel stunt by Lance and Martin leaves Nico firmly in Donald's sights, although Donald's inability to notice a massive pile of manure until he steps in it continues to stretch credibility slightly.Alf and Ailsa come to the rescue and everything seems sorted...but there's a nasty twist in the tale.The death of Jessie the cow is as traumatising as that of Eric the dog a few weeks previous, made more so by Nico's frantic attack on Donald and breakdown.
Elsewhere, Roo's hostility towards Ailsa begins to seriously cross the line, as she drags Celia into an investigation into her stepmother-to-be.And there's even a nice moment of humour when Lance declares he and Martin can do without grog and Martin looks at him in bewilderment.
