I Love 1993
Prismark103 September 2019
I did a lot of clubbing in 1993 even though I was way past my teenage years. It was just that I finally looked old enough to get into nightclubs. There were no picture ids in those days and the bouncers never believed my driving licence. Not that I always had it with me, I always lent it to people younger than me.

I actually used to go clubbing with a guy who had a nickname of Shaggy. It was just as the reggae star Shaggy had hit the charts that year. I always thought Shaggy would be a one hit wonder but he seemed to have a few more under his belt. Shaggy also bought pump n grind to the dance floor, it looked a bit like twerking to me.

Eternal were the all new girl group from Britain, they had a few hits and were popular several years before the Spice Girls. They soon disappeared as Louise went solo and married a footballer. Some of the Eternal members were against doing things like pump n grind on religious grounds. You can tell went they raunchy on Andi Peters, not someone known for being a ladies man .

Beavis & Butthead present the look back at 1993. It was the year John Wayne Bobbitt wished he did less of the pump n grind or else his wife would not had performed a home circumcision gone wrong. She chopped it off and threw away in the highway. Two policemen went looking for it. Before you knew it Bobbitt was back and he even starred in a porno movie called Frankenpenis to show his reattached manhood was in good working order. Sadly Mrs Bobbitt has yet to leave a review on IMDB.

This was also the year of body art and body piercings for women. A dolphin or a rose were popular choices for a tattoo, usually on the ankle sometimes on the butt. As for the piercings, a few women had so many they looked like curtain rails.

Manchester based Boddingtons decided to sell beer by going glamorous northern style. The Manchester Ship Canal stood in for Venice in an ad campaign.

Looking back on the show, not a lot happened in 1993. No mention of the Israeli-Palestinian peace accord in that year.
