The episode was considered by Jack Benny to be such a good example of comedy perfectly executed that he arranged for his own writing staff to see it in a special screening at Desilu Studios.
The fictitious Beverly Palms Hotel arranged by the studio as the Ricardos' (and the Mertz's) temporary home is actually the Beverly Carlton, as indicated by the sign seen next to the driveway. The hotel opened in 1948 at 9400 Olympic Boulevard, and in 1999 was redesigned and re-named The Avalon Hotel-Beverly Hills. The Ricardos' Pontiac is seen driving West on Olympic, then turning into the hotel driveway. This is the only exterior shot of the hotel.
A lost scene, not seen since its original airing was reinserted in the May 17th 2015 CBS special. In it we found out that Bobby the bellhop had a bit part in the film "Julius Caesar".
Ricky's studio was chosen to be MGM, because that's the studio that Lucy and Desi had a real-life contract with. The Long, Long Trailer (1954) was an MGM production.
Lucy's stand-in, Hazel Pierce, is seated next to Bill Holden in the booth at one point. In the colorized version of the episode, Hazel is shown as blond; however, she was actually a brunette.
