I love the whole concept. The western part makes me laugh especially the chipmunk version in the edited version. It's all one story. From start to finish it's all about filmmaking.

Ricky is wearing everyone out by constantly showing home movies. Finally the Mertz's leave before they end and Lucy falls asleep.
They find out he's making a tv pilot film and all want to join in . Ricky is still sore at all of them and films everything at the club. Lucy and the Mertz's make their own , a western drama but it too funny!
Finding out the talent scout is coming over and Ricky won't show theirs Lucy splices them together. We get home movies, numbers from the club and the western our trio filmed with hilarious results!! Speeded up dialogue, backwards and upside action. Different voices in different mouths!
Ricky is not only shocked at the changes but fearful it has ruined everything. The talent scout however loves it complementing all four of them .
One of the times it actually works out for everyone. The laughs never stop in this episode.

After the Mertz's walk out and Lucy falls asleep during Ricky's home movies he's miffed. Understandably so but still he's oblivious to how weary they are getting seeing the same thing all the time. Funny how it only lasts ten minutes but Lucy still falls asleep and Ethel and Fred can't take it anymore! Lol
Ricky is making a tv pilot film and still smarting from their boredom he won't use the trio in it .
Meanwhile Lucy , Ethel and Fred make their own film a western drama. Easily more fun than Ricky's pilot film or his home movies. Learning Ricky won't let them show their film Lucy splices the various films together. It is not without mistakes but it works! The important television man loves it and Lucy, Ethel and Fred's parts in it. Making it clear Ricky's dull musical probably would have been rejected.
A little more practice I think Lucy would have been an excellent film editor!

Compared to season on me episodes this one just demonstrates how far the show had fallen by season 3 . This is trebly awful never laughed once
Based on the laugh out loud season one I bought the dvd box set all 6 seasons .. I'm sorry I did now as I'm struggling to make it past season 3 . Big mistake and waste of money ...
Mind boggling how this episode can get a 8.4 average it's crazy . The story is so silly 'we got mad at you because...' pathetic ! And Lucy, Ethel and Fred are just silly as cowboys. Even Ricky is not funny in this one !
Once again spoiled brat Lucy has to get her own way . 1/10.
