- TriviaSince this was the first episode ever filmed, the cast and crew didn't know exactly how to work out costume changes yet. They originally wanted to run through the episode like a play, with no long breaks. So, this is why Lucy wears layers of clothes throughout the episode. After this episode was filmed, everyone agreed that this "no breaks" method wasn't going to work, but they still were afraid of the 300-person audience getting bored while the actors changed costumes and got sets ready for the next scene. This problem was solved by having Desi's orchestra play for the audience during intermission times.
- GoofsWhen Ricky and Lucy are dancing in the living room, the camera swings too far to the left, and the edge of the set wall and the adjoining bedroom set can be seen briefly.
- Quotes
Lucy Ricardo: Lets see, it was either the upstairs maid, or the butler, or the cook.
Ricky Ricardo: It was her husband.
Lucy Ricardo: Her husband? He didn't have any reason to do it.
Ricky Ricardo: He was married wasn't he?
- Alternate versionsDuring the second series, Lucille Ball took some time off after she gave birth to Desi Arnaz Jr. During this time, CBS re-ran several of the first season episodes. The re-broadcast of episode #1.04 "Lucy Thinks Ricky Is Trying To Murder Her" on the 13th November 1952 featured a new opening "Flashback" sequence which ran for just over a minute and a half. The sequence involves Lucy telling Ricky that instead of watching TV, they will read a murder mystery. Then Desi reminds Lucy what happened the last time she read a murder mystery. This leads into the opening scene of "Lucy Thinks Ricky Is Trying To Murder Her". This flashback scene has been restored for the 2002 DVD release of "I Love Lucy".

Probably the best episode from the first season.
As the title states, Lucy thinks Ricky is trying to kill her, and minus the now infamous blooper of switching cups, this episode deals with comedy and drama in the most perfect manner!
Why didn't Ethel try to help her in a more direct manner than sending Fred up there? Why was Lucy seemingly okay with Ricky killing her?
My favorite line was the subtleness mention of homosexuality with the "Theodore?!" comment-ok, ok, not exactly, but it was the best we'd have gotten in the 1950s!
