In the opening of the story, Lucy comes in freezing from a swim. "I just wanted to make sure I got to swim in the Mediterranean at least once." Since they are apparently in San Remo, East of Nice, technically the Mediterranean is a few hundred miles to the SouthEast, between the boot of Italy and the North coast of Africa. She would have been swimming in the Ligurian Sea.
Fred claims that he doesn't know how to milk a cow; however, after the Ricardos move to the country, when they're looking for a hired hand, Fred says that he was raised on a farm.
While the foursome are discussing the possibility of a bicycle trip, Fred claims that it is about 35 miles from where they are to their destination of Nice, France. Lucy later makes reference to "Yesterday, when we left San Remo". The distance between San Remo, Italy, and Nice, France, is more like 26 miles (42 km).
