Lucy's birthday guest list in this episode included real-life friends of Lucille and Desi. The Morgans and the Sedgwicks even appear in the final scene as guests.
Ricky sings "I Love Lucy".
The one time that the lyrics to the theme song are heard. The lyrics are: "I love Lucy and she loves me. We're as happy as two can be. Sometimes we quarrel but then. How we love making up again. Lucy kisses like no one can. She's my missus and I'm her man. And life is heaven you see. 'Cause I love Lucy, Yes I love Lucy and Lucy loves me."
At the nightclub, Ricky makes reference to the act of Pugh and Carroll, calling them "the two greatest contortionists in America today". This is an inside reference to two of the show's writers, Madelyn Pugh and Bob Carroll Jr.
This was often the final episode played during I Love Lucy birthday marathons from 1983-1988 on KTTV.
