Dressing in Disguises to get Ricky's job back
angelahptrio1 August 2020
Nothing funnier than Fred in drag. I enjoy when Ethel, Lucy, and Fred work as a trio. They're awesome together and really show how much they care. I feel like That's So Raven took inspiration to If I Only Had a Job episode or maybe just a coincidence.

The costumes were superb!

First, if I was rating on the costumes alone, this would be a perfect 10! Insert the plot, 9/10, insert the drawn out first half, 8/10. And this is where we are! Had they focused more on the club scene and less on Ricky demanding a raise, this could've easily been another Vitemeatavegimin episode. Fred in drag is my favorite!

"Ricky Ricardo doesn't work here anymore?"

Warning: Spoilers
A classic episode that I remember from my childhood, this has Lucy and the Mertzs dressing up in various costumes (even with Fred in drag!) when Mr. Littlefield (Gale Gordon) doesn't renew Ricky's contract and hires another band. Lucy and Ethel keep the reservation line tied up at the Tropicana and within an hour, they have filled up the club for the evening and thanks to Fred and trunk of a quick change artist friend of his, they are able to go back and forth, fooling Gordon and the flustered maitre'd as they cancel their reservations upon discovering that Ricky isn't there anymore. There's hardly any Desi outside of the opening and closing but there's a general sense of irony in that scene. William Frawley at one point emulates the rubber legged Leon Errol, and delightfully exaggerates his sway while in drag. Absolute perfection. A great way to end the very long but classic filled first season.

This is my favorite episode of season 1

The only one of Lucy's schemes that actually worked. Lucy, Ethel and Fred's quick changing and walking out when they realize Ricky Ricardo isn't appearing there anymore. The confused face of the character of Mr. Littlefield(Gale Gordon) made it even better.

I found myself laughing out loud throughout the whole thing.
