Lucy, with a new look!
Little-Mikey21 August 2008
This episode is another favorite that has left me laughing to the point of tears and wanting to watch over and over again. It is because of episodes like this why it will be a long time before I ever watch the entire DVD set. Another episode, seen for the first time in many years, rekindles old memories, cracks me up and leaves me wanting to watch it again and again.

After the Ricardos and the Mertzes watched an Italian movie, Lucy decided that she wants to get her hair styled and cut like an Italian actress (cut short). Ricky does not! So Lucy borrows a black wig from her beautician and with an Italian styled dress, she decides to masquerade as a strange woman and flirt with Ricky.

The flirting scene, alone, is a riot! I won't spoil things by revealing too much. Go watch it for yourself!

The black wig

It's a cute episode. I wouldn't call it classic but I don't hate it. Lucy does look good in that wig. The whole thing testing Ricky is another one those wives not trusting their husbands. But the whole reason Ricky doesn't want Lucy to cut her hair short is that old school thinking girls have long hair and boys have short hair. Well, times have changed. Can he just admit he likes women with long hair? Can Lucy just wear the wig when he's not around? No an no because it's a sitcom.

Black wig episode

Warning: Spoilers
This is a strange and very dated episode. Strange because honestly Lucy doesn't look as different as they try to portray. I know it has to be exaggerated but it feels a little forced.

Dated because of Ricky dictating Lucy's hairstyle. Honestly she would have looked not drastically than one of her later hairstyles especially with her signature red hair. Of course at that point they weren't going to change her signature style so this is more about Lucy putting Ricky to the test than anything else.

Most of the laughs in this episode come from Fred and Ethel. Fred recognizing Ethel in her disguise, Ethel not wanting to show just how many different styles her costume has!

It's still fairly funny but not a classic.

Ricky doesn't recognize Lucy...again

Not quite, but this premise has been several times on the show already, except this time the premise wears thin after the first act, but it just keeps going and going.
