Little Ricky on Conga Drum
grantcary16 May 2022
This episode is fine but really takes off at the finale when Ricky plays Baba Loo with Little Ricky !!! The kid playing Little Ricky is so wonderful singing along with Desi Arnaz and Desi really delivers on his conga playing!!! Sometimes the smallest of tv moments are the most memorable and iconic.

This episode never made sense.

Ok...so, the Ricardos go to Cuba and make a point for Little Ricky to say things in Spanish. There are even jokes made about Lucy's bad Spanish ("Bonus dies" instead of "Buenos dias"). Then, at the show where Ricky performs in Cuba, there's English spoken (clearly for the audience) but this contradicts details of the plot. I get the feeling the episode was merely done to placate to Desi being Cuban, a chance to perform, and nothing else of any real substance. It just seemed to touch on a few stereotypes. Did they think the audience was stupid??? Although I truly LOVE Lucy, I hate this episode!

Uncle Alberto yuck

I can't stand this one. It should be one of the best episodes going to Ricky's home country but Uncle Alberto is a jerk. He can't stand Lucy until Little Ricky performs on the bongo drums with Ricky. Really? What is that supposed to mean? That wins him over? How ridiculous.

Terrible episode

Warning: Spoilers
It's not often that I find an I Love Lucy episode unwatchable.

An episode in Cuba Ricky's home country should be much better. Nothing much happens. We get a lot of machismo from the obnoxious Uncle Alberto . Lucy is persona non grata until Little Ricky performs. Give me a break!

Ethel and Fred are relegated to being extras .

They seemed to have no real ideas for this episode.

It also makes me wonder why we never got an episode or two in Spain when they were in Europe Lucy mentioned at least twice they were scheduled to go there.

It's also disappointing Ricky's mother isn't more prominently featured in this one.
