Parting. such a sweet sorrow

William Schallert and his wife were a beloved couple in Sparta. They owned a second hand bookstore and the wife conducted reading sessions for the kids at the elementary school and library. So when she's reported shot to death in their store by Schallert it's a shock especially to Geoffrey Thorne who was befriended by them when he moved to Sparta as a kid.

I had this one figured almost immediately despite a red herring thrown in by the writers. William Schallert gives one fine performance on many levels.

Good Story but mostly predictable.

Warning: Spoilers
The big goof here is that the title of the episode "A Final Arrangement" gives away the whole story. The viewer will expect euthanasia which is not far off. You do get your first hint that the victim was not well when the ladies on the porch are sitting around chatting, however, the story's title is all you need to know that the husband and his wife have some sort of "arrangement" for her death.
