Jeff Goldblum makes an appearance as Laverne's love interest. Laverne pretends she can speak multiple languages, Shirley pretends she's okay with wearing fur to impress men . . . Oh, girls. Well, they come to their senses later. I am totally with Shirley when it comes to fur.

The girls lie to their dates

Laverne tells her date she speaks 7 languages just to go on a date with him. It's so preposterous because no one would actually do this. She even crams in phrases from different languages to try pulling it off at the party. It's just so dumb and unrealistic.
Meanwhile animal lover Shirley rightfully chastises Rhonda for wearing a dead fox or mink or some kind of furry animal around her neck. It's so gross because the poor animal's head is still on it. Yuck!
I can't believe people used to think that was fashionable! But after Shirley meets her date....a furrier....she's so gaga over his average looks that she wears furry animal tails around her head all evening.
Both girls realize what idiots they were all evening just for a couple of guys and vow never to do it again....until they ask them out water skiing whick neither know how to do.
Ok episode but Shirley disappointed me when she tossed her beliefs aside just because she was attracted to her date. At the end when she vowed not to do it again I was back in her corner until she accepted another date with the animal butcher.
I liked her better when she wanted to shoot him and hang him in her den. Thankfully no Lenny & Squiggy and it was nice to see the girls acting together again. The episodes are best when they're together.
I also noticed that Edna isn't even in the opening anymore during the toast under the 1966 banner when she used to be there. They actually redid the scene without her so I guess she's permanently off the show now. Maybe she ran off with Sonny lol.
