It's Beaver's birthday, but he feels he's too old for a party. As such, Ward and June come to the realization that he is probably too old for toys as a gift. So Ward and June give him $10. All his relatives also feel the same way, with Beaver's total haul in birthday gifts coming to $22, more money than Beaver's ever gotten at any one time. Ward and June suggest that he deposit the money in the bank rather than buy a model car which is what he wants to do with some of the money. A late arrival gift is from his Uncle Billy in the amount of $10. Gilbert tries to talk Beaver into buying the model car with that $10 about which Ward and June don't know. Even though Beaver vows not to buy it without talking to his father first, he ends up buying it anyway. Gilbert tells him to lie about buying it, telling his parents that Gilbert gave it to him if asked. His parents do ask and that's what Beaver tells them. Wally later tells Beaver that his father probably wouldn't have been mad about buying the car if Beaver was honest about what he was doing. So Beaver has to figure out how to get out of this predicament of the lie with his parents.
