Beaver's school's football team is holding a formal father-son awards banquet. Beaver learns that he will be receiving a letter - his first ever - and the scuttlebutt is that he will also receive the most inspirational player award. When the team's star player, Terry Richmond, announces that he is going to attend the banquet in his every day clothes instead of a suit, Gilbert, Richard and Ronald buck under the pressure of their leader and also announce they're not going to wear a suit. Beaver, however, feels uncomfortable about not wearing a suit to a formal event, especially since their fathers will be there, but he also doesn't want to stick out like a sore thumb if none of the other guys are going to be dressed formally. He decides to fall to peer pressure and go to the dinner dressed casually. The question becomes if he or his parents will win this battle, Ward and June who will not let him out of the house without wearing his suit.
