Storyline
Did you know
- TriviaRusty Stevens makes a blatant mistake and catches himself. This happens when Ward is calling a cab. He sticks his tongue out at Beaver just as Ward is talking. He makes an oops face, laughs, then looks straight at the director. Thirty seconds later he sticks his tongue out at Beaver, when he is supposed to.
- GoofsWhen Ward is on the phone calling a cab, Larry and the Beaver look at each other angrily. Then Larry prematurely sticks his tongue out at the Beaver and looks over at the camera with a look on his face that shows he knows he was too fast to do this in the script. Then after Ward is off the phone,, the camera goes a close-up of both Larry and the Beaver sticking their tongues out at each other as the script probably wanted.
- Quotes
Wally Cleaver: But how come you always do the outside cookin'?
Ward Cleaver: Well I'll tell you son. Women do alright when they have all the modern conveniences but us men are better at this rugged type of outdoor cooking. Sort of a throwback to caveman days. Hand me those asbestos gloves will you Wally?

LARRY COMES TO VISIT AND EAT AND EAT!
Rusty Stevens was so convincing as Larry Mondello, and this is his showcase episode. It's one of those "Mom has to go out of town, and can I stay over...."
episodes which clicks, thanks to some spot on writing by show producers Joe Connelly and Bob Mosher.
It's really a true to life story, because how many of us kids wanted a good pal to stay overnight and the stay was not always fun. Problems, problems!
Ward is doing the fatherly thing and cookin' up the burgers on the grill, all the while Beave and Larry slowly begin to have issues?
I agree with the last reviewer, the scenes with Larry or his mother (Madge Blake) are very funny, especially Mrs. Mondello whose husband always seems to be away on business and she looks like she's ready to scream! Larry also has an older sister (who we never see), also complicating matters for his short fuse mom. There are a lot of unexplained things in the Mondello household, which may have been a gag thrown in by the writers, or something to build on in later episodes. It was always a head scratcher.
Matters do change, and in the middle of the night, when Larry wakes up sick as a dawg, this due to all the candy bars he smuggled into the house and stuffed under his pillow. By the way, while all this is going on, poor Wally is put into a guest room and is kind of on his own, which may be a blessing in disguise.
Veteran character actor Frank Sully plays a cab driver, who was in tons of movies and classic tv shows, such as I LOVE LUCY.
And yes... Ward must have forgotten the hole Larry drilled in the garage wall in the last episode!
Don't stay up too late! And don't make a lot of noise! From SEASON 1 remastered Universal dvd box set.
