Beaver receives a family heirloom - or "hairloom," as he puts it - an expensive 14-carat gold ring from his Aunth Martha. Beaver thinks it's neat and wants to take it to school to show everyone but his parents nix that idea, saying he would just lose it and upset his aunt.
Of course, being Beaver, he can't resist so to rationalize his actions he ties the ring to some string and the string to his belt loop. This was he wasn't wearing it, as promised. Well, at school - the worst kid in the class, "Judy" (the tattletale and obnoxious student) claims the ring really isn't it and to prove it, Beaver should put it on to see if it fits. Beaver does just that but on problem ensues: he can't get the ring off!
What happens, how it ever comes off, and the lessons learned here all ensue. The final 30 seconds is the best where Ward proves what a super father he really was.
