Wyatt's deputy, Shotgun Gibbs, runs off a saddle bum who was hassling a pretty young widow who had hired him to help her go to Colorado. Her two kids immediately take a liking to Gibbs while Wyatt and Doc wonder if Gibbs needs a change.
Shotgun Gibbs is a valuable aide to Earp which is recognized by the town officials who give Gibbs a gold star and a $20 a month raise. A young boy Butch and his younger sister Ginger come to the jail looking for help for their mother Amy Blyfied who is in a quarrel with a hired hand. Gibbs goes with them and quickly dispatches the man. The kids are impressed with Gibbs strength and their mother is thankful. She is a widow of a deputy killed on the job on her way to Colorado. Gibbs is concerned that she may have trouble hiring reliable men in Tombstone. She hires two men who attempt to steal four of her horses. Gibbs had checked the men out so he and Earp trailed the wagons and caught the men before they got away. Amy and the kids have to return to Tombstone as witnesses. There the kids attach themselves to Gibbs as Gibbs and Amy find themselves mutually attracted but Gibbs won't desert Earp. Doc and Earp discuss their attraction but also a mutual worry that Gibbs is limited due to his reliance on his shotgun which has only two shots. When Gibbs disobeys an order, Earp sadly takes action.—Anonymous
