Jim Beaver, the actor who plays "Henry Barnes" in this episode, is also one of the country's foremost experts on the life and mysterious death of previous TV Superman actor George Reeves. Beaver was a historical consultant for the movie Hollywoodland (2006), in which Ben Affleck played Reeves.
In one scene, Clark mentions STAR Labs. While in 2021 STAR is associated with the character The Flash (because of the The Flash (2014) series; STAR was originally (and in the 90's) a Superman location from the DC comics.
Murray Brown, Superman's wannabe agent, tells Superman he has an offer from Cleveland, Ohio (presumably to protect Cleveland instead of Metropolis). Cleveland is the hometown of Superman co-creator Jerry Seigel. his partner, and co-creator of Superman was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada before moving to Cleveland, Ohio with his family at the age of 8 or 9.
One of the Superman toys in Jonathan and Martha's kitchen plays the series' theme tune.
