In many ways, Lois & Clark is a very cheesy show. This episode takes that aspect and runs with it, and I love it for it. It's silliness and fun with just the right dash of heart. Even the somewhat stupider aspects of this episode add to the charm. I definitely recommend it not just for Christmas, but for anytime you feel like something fun and lighthearted.
At first, I thought it was cheating to have Clark not be immune to the Atomic Space Rat's spray, but I quickly got over that, as it made for a more interesting and funny episode (plus, the effect of the spray was somewhat lessened). I completely do not understand why Martha Kent seemed to actually be able to hurt Clark by pulling him by the ear, though. Maybe K Callan actually hurt Dean Cain.
I think they should've verbally referenced Charlie Brown, considering how they seemed to be making an homage to it with Lois' whole Christmas tree deal.
The cliché involving the "mute" orphan was somewhat lamely handled, but everything is easy to forgive in the context of such a silly episode.
Overall, a very fun, cheesy episode I recommend heartily. At first I thought it might not turn out the best, but it turned out to be a joy.
