"Brains Over Brawn And Firearms"
hogwrassler5 March 2021
Professor Gordon, the town schoolteacher, is actually a career criminal who plans to rob the bank with the help of his two henchmen, Glick and Devlin. The professor uses a deserted building next to the bank with a secret panel leading to a cellar. He plans to tunnel from the cellar into the bank. As he tells his two henchmen: "Brains over brawn and firearms." But Gordon realizes that the incoming replacement teacher, Naomi Courtwright, will recognize him as an embezzler from the east. He has Glick and Devlin try to kidnap her off the stage, but they are foiled by The Ranger and Tonto. Now our heroes will have to protect Naomi and figure out who is the secret brain behind Devlin and Glick. It's a dangerous situation. Blonde Phyllis Coates makes her second straight guest appearance on The Lone Ranger. She was also in the previous episode, "Stage to Estacado," episode 46. Phyllis would make one more appearance on the series after Clayton Moore returned to play The Ranger. Hayden Roarke is perfectly cast as the professor. Richard Avonde and Robert Bray are properly menacing as the henchmen. Robert Bray was a frequent bad guy until he became Lassie's human companion several years later. A good episode.
