Plot is Convoluted and Overwritten

Warning: Spoilers
This is a rather convoluted episode-more so than usual. Lucy buys a fur coat without having the cash to pay for it. When she goes to ask Mr. Mooney for the money, he redirects her to his temporary replacement, who just happens to be an old flame from Lucy's youth named Vinnie Meyers (Max Showalter).

The plot hinges on the fact that Lucy fears she won't be able to secure the advance on her allowance unless she remembers the pet name she had for Vinnie back in the day. She decides that feigning amnesia will get her off the hook with Vinnie so she and Viv devise a plan. But then an accidental bump on the head gives Lucy amnesia for REAL, but Viv still thinks she's faking. The plot is so overwritten it's ridiculous but Vivian Vance really makes this episode work, especially when it slowly dawns on her what is actually happening.

Not a great episode, but the 7 rating is for Vivian's performance and the fact that Lucy looks younger and sounds a lot like the old Lucy Ricardo in this one. Kudos to the continuity by the writers because Lucy actually mentions Vinnie Meyers in the very first Lucy Show episode.
