Stick It Out for the Final Act
kgraovac10 November 2023
When the bank finances Mickey Rooney's new acting school, Lucy schemes to get into his class.

Lucy may as well have just worn a sign around her neck that said "Will Do Menial Work for Lessons" because that's basically what happens here.

The first few scenes are nothing extraordinary. Lucy and Mickey do an "improv" scene where they act like chickens which recalls a certain I LOVE LUCY episode, and Mooney bounces off the floor like a kangaroo. There is a bit with falling plaster that has been done way too many times before.

The best part is the last act where Lucy does another Charlie Chaplin impersonation (see also Season 1's "Chris' New Years Eve Party"), with Rooney as a street urchin and Mooney as the angry shopkeeper. They are all quite adept at making it actually look like a silent movie, especially since the sequence runs quite long.
