Milton Berle needs to do some research for the role of a derelict, and when Lucy and Mary Jane discover him in the soup kitchen their volunteering at, Lucy decides to rehabilitate him.
Good GAWD! How did a control freak like Lucille Ball let this abysmal, ridiculous script make it to air? I had watched the entire series on Nick at Nite back in the '90s but can't believe the absolute horror of this one didn't permanently scar my brain. I must have blocked it out from the sheer awfulness. This is the worst episode of the series. The entire middle scene in Lucy's apartment needs to be destroyed and forgotten.
The only good line is when Lucy, referring to "derelict" Berle, says "Oh, I knew his show went off the air but I never thought he'd come to THIS".
Lucy and Uncle Miltie redeemed themselves nicely in the Season 6 opener "Lucy Meets the Berles" - one of the best of the series, but this one needs to be buried and forgotten. An embarrassment to both!
