Liked Her Better as a HS Dropout In Season 6

Lucy attends her college reunion, where she resumes the tradition of stealing and hiding the founder's statue -- and then must have Viv aid her in sneaking it back to its proper place.

Another Season 2 episode that is not as humorous as the writers imagined. The whole sequence with the statue on the spiral staircase is unfunny and too long. It would have been better to focus on the relationships between Lucy and her classmates. It's charming when they all sing as Lucy strums the old ukulele. When she conducts them as they perform the alma mater song at the end, it's like a warmup for the future "Lucy Conducts the Symphony" episode.

The best parts are when Viv keeps trying to find out Lucy's age by asking "What year was that, honey?". The worst is their embarrassing stutter speech in the bell tower after they are deafened by the ringing. Viv is sure a bundle of neuroses. We already know she's claustrophobic and here she must confront her fear of heights again (see also "Lucy Puts Up a TV Antenna").

Vivian looks very youthful in the opening scene with her hair lightened and wearing that blue cashmere sweater. Ironically, she looks younger than Lucy, who's seen in her old cheerleader uniform with bows in her hair. Speaking of hair, check out the Lesley Gore flip 'dos on the college co-eds, one of whom is future MY THREE SONS star Tina Cole -- Very 1963!
