When Jerry finds a valuable coin, crafty Lucy comes up with a scheme to hunt for other rare pennies and cash in. This is a popular Season 3 episode but I think there are better examples of Lucy-loses-something-and-needs-to-get-it back.
Even factoring in inflation 1964 vs 2023, the whole strategy seems like an awful lot of trouble for such a small return - sixteen dollars and fifty cents. The episode seems to be written around the climax where Lucy and Viv keep falling into the sewer. Lucy's crying jag here is annoying -- made worse when Vivian joins her.
The best parts are Viv polishing the coins with a towel one by one; Mooney's line about a "Watusi festival"; the cop assuming they're drunk and Lucy's retort "Just because we happen to be lying in the gutter"' and Lucy's bit with the measuring tape that (once again) mocks Vivian's weight.
At least the ladies both look great in the opening kitchen scene. Viv's blonde flip never looked better and Lucy's wig looks particularly nice.
