Family matters

Warning: Spoilers
With Magnum, P. I. getting close to the end, we finally learn about T. C.'s family and his kids and the fact that one of his sons has a spitting resemblance to Shavar Ross, who plays the best friend of Arnold in DIff'rent Strokes, and that one of the buddies of T. C. looks like the kid, Alfonso Ribeiro, who was rumored to have broken his neck breakdancing with Michael Jackson. Anyway, this episode is fun, and you even see Higgins flashing a rare smile. The gorgeous Hawaiian scenery stands out.

Maybe in the reboot, T. C.'s. Family can be all played by Tyer Perry to give the canon a bit of an edge if you know what I mean.

Why all these new characters?
MiketheWhistle21 February 2020
The plot wasn't bad and had action and held my interest. My complaint is that it introduces a ton of characters that one would think should be semi-regular and as best I can tell don't become that.

Why show TC's kids only to never see them again? They weren't needed to totally pull off the story.

Also this ep hints at Higgins being Robin even though we know he's not conclusively.

So not sure if totally worth it.

Terrible continuity

I have to agree with the other review. Where did these people come from? T C suddenly has two kids. This is the 7th season and you'd think there'd be some mention of T C's family until now. I guarantee that you won't hear about them again after this episode.

We are family

Warning: Spoilers
You can't, in the middle of the 7th season, spring on us that TC has a family that somehow has never been mentioned before. Not just an ex-wife, but also two children! Well, you can, but it just comes across as plain stupid.

The badness of this sudden family which, like another reviewer said, will probably never be referred to again could be somewhat mitigated if the episode itself were any good. But it's not. It basically turns into a crappy soap opera, with two exes who can't stop fighting, a stereotypically angry teenage son, a new boyfriend who's only there to be a suspect and gets hardly any screen time, and a cousin who's only there to be guilty and gets even less.

At the end, they get the daughter back and love is all around. Okay, bye-bye, TC's family. It was nice not knowing you. Won't be seeing you. Next episode, Rick's having problems in his second term as president of the United States.
