Guest starring Shirley Rogers

Warning: Spoilers
Jill St. John guest stars as Jan Kona, and interestingly in England, St. John is curiously pronounced Sinjin, so that's an interesting fact of linguistic trivia. More importantly, this episode features several shots that appears in the opening credits, so this episode must have been filmed way before it debuted. This episode also has one of the most famous shots to feature in the opening credits, the one of Magnum helping the young lady to snorkel, and it's Shirley Rogers who plays her.

I'm enjoying watching the early seasons of Magnum, P. I., along with Father Brown and Law and Order for daytime tv.

A satisfying conclusion to Season 2
DVD_Connoisseur11 November 2018
With "Diamonds Are Forever" Bond girl Jill St. John co-starring in this episode as fashion designer Jan Kona, the emphasis in this episode is glamour. St. John is great; the second series of "Magnum" has set the bar high for female actors.

T.C. poses as super-photographer "Mr. Alex" whilst Magnum investigates who's intent on killing the directors of Kona Fashion. As always, Roger E. Mosley is a comic delight.

The Herculean Denny Miller makes his first appearance in the series, playing the appropriately named Ox. He's a formidable figure and, as Magnum says, it's never wise to "fight an oak tree".

9 out of 10. Packed with sequences that will end up filling most of the opening titles for this whole season.

Was this a holdover from season 1?
simbashrimp6 March 2022
I cant help but feel this is a holdover from season 1. Everyone looks like they did in the beginning of season 1 and there is that exposition choice to explain all the characters, like how Magnum has a big bar bill. It all feels a bit awkward. Plus of course the clip of the girl snorkling in the opening. As a season ender its not very strong but its alright.

Confusing script, pointless characters
mbobrick1 July 2020
If you're just tuning in to see women in bikinis and Magnum in short shorts, you'll be pleased at the beginning, but no so much afterwards. So some fashion designers are being killed. The motive isn't clearly defined or plausible, just based on suspicion. The regular supporting cast has perfunctory appearances but don't add to the plot in a meaningful way. Several pointless characters in minor roles, such as the police, who don't appear later to wrap up the crime. Jill still looks great and still can't act, but if you're a fan, she has lots of scenes. Overall, the ending is a let down and not satisfying.
