Despite the terrible title pun, a great episode
DVD_Connoisseur1 November 2018
"Wave Goodbye" is a top notch episode from Season 2, filled with memorable performances from a talented cast.

The late, great Vic Morrow makes an appearance as Police Sergeant Jordan. Morrow brings gravitas to every role, no matter how small. He's splendid here as the cop with a drinking problem,.

The beautiful Diane Crowley makes her second appearance in the series, this time as the unfortunate Kacy.

Wings Hauser is excellent as the wide eyed and troubled Vietnam vet, Nick.

W.K. Stratton is also solid as the young Police Officer Kelly.

9 out of 10. An almost Higgins-free episode after the previous Higgins-centric tale.

A who done it!

Warning: Spoilers
Wave Goodbye Magnum had a surfing friend and she lived wild. Well Wave Goodbye turns into a who done it! Magnum get Rick and T C to corner a drug dealer and there is some cops in the mix. Vic Morrow plays the burned out cop who cares less. Wave Goodbye develops the caring side of the Magnum character who like the girl faults and all. There is a plot twist at the end. Reminds me of the Rockford Files. 7 stars.

Guest starring Vic Morrow and Wings Hauser

Warning: Spoilers
Legendary actor Vic Morrow appears as a tough police sergeant. This was one of his last appearances before his tragic death in Twilight Zone: The Movie in a segment directed by John Landis.

Surprisingly, Wave Goodbye is one of only two episodes of Magnum, P. I. to feature surfing scenes. I didn't know that, and I must thank the Magnum Mania! Website for this important piece of trivia.

Also Wings Hauser appears. I think Wings could have become a huge Hollywood star, but not to be.

I like watching the early years of Magnum, particularly with sun-soaked beaches and the bustling streets and all that.

good cop, bad cop?

This episode has Magnum investigating the death of some flirty surfer girl named Kacy, who he's supposedly friends with, but something about her death irks him. Interestingly enough, this is Diane Crowley's(Kacy)final acting credit, and 8 months after this episode was aired, Vic Morrow(Sgt. Jordan)would be tragically killed on the set of a movie. Curse you John Landis! While I'm discussing the other characters, I felt the most memorable performance was by Wings Hauser, who played Nick, a veteran of the Vietnam War, and suspect of Kacy's death. The scenes between he and Magnum were both sad and touching, as Magnum tries his best to get him proper care in a hospital, as he's homeless and plagued by past demons from the war. There was only 1 scene with Higgins unfortunately, and I thought the ending could've been a bit more dramatic, but overall, I was pleased with most of this episode.
