Rusty and his sister bring Kentucky Cal home for dinner . . . and the family is charmed except for Danny who is upset that no one is paying him attention anymore; and he believes he can expose Cal as a phony. Danny has his agent place some calls to prove Cal was never a radio star and has been nothing but a bum all his life. After all, Rusty and Linda are speaking with a Southern accent, Catchy is doing some Southern cooking, and Danny is just furious that his lectures on sharing have backfired on him. Unfortunately Cal is who he claims to be but after losing his two children he just disappeared and became a drifter. The show seems more poignant today as we have so many broken men and broken families who need help. The show begins with Cal spinning a Southern fried version of Cinderella and has its own pull at the heartstrings Cinderella ending. A simple fable for "simpler" times?
