Black bear on the loose!
blanbrn30 July 2020
This "MWC" episode "Bearly Men" from season 10 aired on Dec. 3, 1995 is one that was very funny and entertaining as it was made a comical watch from late character funny guy Tim Conway. Ephraim(Peg's dad) needs to take his beloved overweight bride away from Al. Yet to do that Al must first prove his plan that he can nab and kill a black bear in the woods! So Al and Bud set out on the adventure! Just when they think the black bear is deceased that's when the fun starts it's now bear loose in the windy city streets now it's time to hunt him street style. As Al and Bud try to mold country boy Ephraim with some city slicker smarts. The adventure and scenes and one liners are funny! Really one of the better and funny and crazy episodes!

Bearable.

Al and Bud must go on a bear hunt to prove themselves as manly as Peggy's father Ephraim. If they successfully bag a bear, Ephraim will take back his wife, who has been living upstairs at the Bundy's home. Bud thinks he kills a bear when he throws tinned goods at it, but the animal isn't dead; back home, the bear wakes up and roams the windy city, with Bud and Al in hot pursuit.

A wild bear on the prowl; Al and Bud tracking the beast: the scene is set for hilarity, but barring Tom Conway's amusing turn as redneck Ephraim, this episode really isn't all that funny, the scenes involving the bear wandering the streets lacking imagination. While it's admirable that the makers went to the lengths of using a real bear for most of the action, I think I would rather they had used a man in a bear suit to get more laughs.

I did enjoy Bud and Al's street fight with a gang of young hoodlums, but it felt like it was inserted solely to add some excitement to an otherwise rather unremarkable story.
