Pat Finley played a very annoying character in an early season one episode, "Divorce Isn't Everything". Oddly, instead of waiting to re-use the actress in a later season, she was brought back for season one's "A Friend in Deed" and once again she plays an incredibly annoying lady. Now I am NOT saying Finley was bad in these roles...she was supposed to be an annoying person and did a good job with both parts*.
WJM has a new chirpy and huggy receptionist, 'Twinks' (Finley). It seems she knew Mary from long ago...at summer camp. Oddly, Twinks has never let go and much of her time and personality revolves around this camp...and she even is in charge of some sort of newsletter for the campers! And, when she goes out for an evening with Mary, ALL she talked about was camp! Clearly the phrase 'get a life' comes to mind about Twinks...and Mary, being an overly nice person, doesn't have the heart to tell Twinks to get lost or at least STOP talking about camp! But she doesn't and Twinks immediately assumes Mary is her best friend for life...and asks her and Rhoda (who she just met) to be her Maid of Honor at her upcoming wedding!
This is a funny episode that might make you cringe a bit. I did like that at the end, Mary DID tell Twinks what she thought of her...even if it didn't help! Well worth seeing...especially so you can get a load of the dresses!!
*Finley also played an ongoing role on "The Bob Newhart Show" and played his sister....a very, very different sort of character in pretty much every way. And the show, incidentally, was also made by MTM...Moore's production company.
