IMF team averts nuclear attack by a few seconds
CCsito8 July 2013
Warning: Spoilers
*SPOLIER ALERT*

This episode marked the final one with Rollin and Cinnamon and among the best plots of the series. The IMF team has to determine what kind of threat is expected to occur soon and to get a man to remember the information regarding the threat. The difficulty of getting that information is compounded by another interrogator and the psychological block being used the enemy agent. After abducting the enemy agent, the IMF team makes a fake setting from the man's past and has Rollin playing a man being interrogated since the enemy agent was a former interrogator himself. They trick the enemy agent into thinking he is back in his former job and transfer his situation of being interrogated to Rollin. As the deadline threat comes close to arriving, the IMF team has to resort to desperate measures and use a drug on the enemy agent. The team tricks the enemy agent into thinking that a superior officer will kill him and his wife if he fails in his interrogation work on Rollin. In a desperate situation, he suddenly remembers the information that he has blocked in his mind and divulges it to the superior officer. The IMF team sends out this information (nuclear missile equipped submarines) just a few seconds before they are launched and averts the attack. Henry Silva did a very good role as the enemy agent. The previous episode, "Illusions", also was among the best episodes where you have Cinnamon singing, Rollin using two disguises, and even Barney got to use a disguise. With Rollin and Cinnamon (Martin Landau and Barbara Bain) dropping out after this season, the show did not keep up the same standards, in my opinion. When this episode first aired, it was just before the first moon walk that I saw live on TV in the summer of 1969. In that year, this show and that event were among the top TV events that I was most looking forward to see.

An acting tour de force by Henry Silva
shakspryn4 October 2022
Not infrequently, an MI episode is elevated to memorable status by a standout performance from the guest star. Our MI team become in a way supporting players, as the audience sees the key figure, the person holding a secret that the team needs, struggling forcefully in the web they have carefully created.

In this episode, our team finds out that they are facing perhaps the most crucial challenge ever, to foil an imminent surprise nuclear attack on the United States!

Henry Silva, a fine actor, gives a powerful and passionate performance as the officer of a foreign power who knows the details that the team must have to avert the attack. He brings to this role the intensity for which he was known and admired. We should be glad that this series gave him a chance to show what good work he could do. Recommended.
