DAVID DISCOVERS HE'S IN LOVE WITH MADDIE
asalerno108 June 2022
After spending a night chasing the wrong Maddie, ending up in jail and then finding out that a stranger had spent the night at her house, David wakes up at the office. Maddie arrives late and David, between a mixture of jealousy and curiosity, gets her to confess that an old childhood friend is in Los Angeles staying at her house. Maddie's behavior is changing and this worries David who interrupts a romantic dinner between her and Sam with the purpose of confessing his true feelings, but by not cheering up he ends up drunk and making a fool of himself. Again we have some outstanding performances from both Cibyll and Bruce with a chemistry that crosses the screen.

It's not the start of the downturn of the show, but it's where you really realize the depths.

Warning: Spoilers
No detective work, just David being terrible and watching him torpedo a relationship for what feels like hours. Awful.

I wish this show held it together like it used to, it was so so good for awhile there, but you just know in your heart it's going to get worse before it gets better with this. Hard to watch, I miss the charm and goofa and the detective work. Now it's just two caricatures moving around each other and the insane politics of the eighties prevalent in every moment.

It's been years so obviously this review does nothing but I'll tell ya it was cathartic to write. God speed to the rest of ya.

So much potential, squandered

Warning: Spoilers
This episode gave us the teaser, the potential that David and Maddy were actually going to get together. It's so obvious that they were both are smitten with each other.

And Maddi is going way off character and desiring a one night stand, and practically acts it out.

Ridiculous!

This really is a David Addison episode. We see how much work David does, works very hard to chase the woman he thinks is Maddi from ruining her life. And then he gets to her house (after the police station visit) he's exhausted, he's beaten up, he's dirty, and he's about to declare his love to Maddi.

A strange man answers the door, and David chickens out. I just don't believe it. I think a man would have been like "yes I want to talk to Maddi" and that strange man at Maddi's house even offered to wake her up. By all means, wake her up. Seize is the day!

This episode betrays the characters and it betrays the audience. It was the beginning of the end. Sad! This series had so much talent, it was off the charts! To be treated like this is really not fair.
